Photography and image-based art — black and white editions on Japanese and fine art papers, glass-laminated objects, original paintings, drawings, and video installations, produced in-house at our Zurich studio or by the artists themselves.

The Collection spans unique works and strictly numbered editions, drawn from two distinct sources : a private archive of historical photographic glass plates, and contemporary works produced or presented in collaboration with living artists.

A glass plate negative from 1880 was never meant to be printed at this scale, on this paper. The Private Collection works deliberately against that constraint — taking plates from blackprint’s historical archive and printing them at sizes and on substrates that were technically impossible at the time of their making.

The archive spans the 1860s to the 1910s: early aeronautical history including the Zodiac, one of the first dismountable airships; microscopic views from the end of the nineteenth century; nude photography from a time when its circulation was prohibited. Each plate is digitised at high resolution and printed without digital retouching — scratches, emulsion loss, and surface marks remain part of the image. Papers are chosen for both their archival integrity and their character: Cartalafranca, Arches Velin BFK Rives, traditional Japanese Washi.

Works are issued in limited editions of 5, 10, or 15 copies, numbered and accompanied by a certificate.
