blackprint The collection - February 2026

The image as a tangible object

A photograph printed at blackprint is not a reproduction. It is the result of a conversation between an image and a material — where the weight of a paper, the colour of its white, the grain of its fibres, can either carry a photograph or hold it in tension. The print becomes an object — something you recognise the moment you hold it.

blackprint is a fine art print studio and contemporary gallery in Zurich, dedicated to black-and-white photography and image-based art.

The studio’s practice is rooted in the Piezography® Pro carbon pigment ink system, printed on handcrafted Japanese Washi and selected fine art papers — chosen as much for their archival quality as for their character: touch, surface, fibre, the particular white of each sheet. This research into paper is central to the practice, and to what makes each print singular.

blackprint edition publishes limited works produced entirely in-house: carbon pigment prints from historical glass plate negatives and positives, phygital editions, and collaborations with contemporary artists.

The gallery represents artists working across analogue photography, video installation, drawing, and painting.

The Collection brings together historical and contemporary works. Available online.
