“airplane II” was printed from an antique glass plate positive 9 × 12 cm, originally dating around 1909, France. We have developed our own technique, so that we can reproduce the original negative plate with the smallest details on a piezography print.
Hubert Latham (1883-1912), on July 19 and July 27, 1909 failed to cross the English Channel on his monoplane “Antoinette” and was thus the first aviator to land a plane on the water (Successful crossing by Bleriot on July 25, 1909). These attempts made him a very popular figure and the same year he sets the new world height record: 475 meters.
