Photography and image-based art — black and white editions on Japanese and fine art papers, glass-laminated objects, original paintings, drawings, and video installations, produced in-house at our Zurich studio or by the artists themselves.

The Collection spans unique works and strictly numbered editions, drawn from two distinct sources : a private archive of historical photographic glass plates, and contemporary works produced or presented in collaboration with living artists.

The third Karo edition presents photographs by Johannes Meiner (1867–1941), selected by Ylva Meyer from the Baugeschichtliches Archiv der Stadt Zürich. Meiner ran a photographic studio in Zurich’s Metropol House and worked across all genres — portraits, architecture, landscapes, advertising.

His speciality was stereoscopy, and the square format of his stereoviews is a natural fit for the Karo edition. The subjects are Zurich between 1900 and 1910: an urban document that is also, in places, a record of things that no longer exist — the old Tonhalle among them. A collaboration with the Baugeschichtliches Archiv der Stadt Zürich.
