The Karo #03 edition is a selection of photographs of Johannes Meiner (1867-1941) by Ylva Meyer from the Building History Archive of the City of Zurich

Johannes Meiner (1867-1941) ran a flourishing photographic studio in a prominent location in Zurich’s Metropol House. The spectrum of his photographic work covered all genres such as portraits, architecture, landscapes and advertising. One of his specialities was stereoscopy, i.e. photographs that have a three-dimensional effect when viewed through a special observer. These stereoscopic images have a square format and are ideal for Blackprint’s Karo Edition. Zurich subjects from the period 1900 to 1910 have been selected to show us an urban idyll. At the same time, they are historical image sources (for the old Tonhalle, for example) and witnesses to a high level of photographic art from the Belle Epoque.
