“Mingled with Voids is a corpus of elusive shapes that emerged from an unpredictable and at times random process. As a contemporary caveman, images are captured in the dark by shooting at a screen where are casted some feeble and trembling shapes made of light. The output is an intangible work with the quality of mental projections, which eludes interpretations based on the resemblance of the forms.
Mingled with Voids is a deep dive into the randomness of existence without any preconceived idea of what it’d look like. An acceptance of the re-combinatory quality of the universe and, at the same time, an act of resistance against it and a tentative to generate instant-long worlds.
The process consists of several steps: at any stage, pictures lose something and gain something else. Key points are a set of mirror-like surfaces that cast reflections and a custom-made darkroom printing process with a coffee-based recipe instead of chemicals.” – Diego Brambilla
