About the artwork

fffound is an ongoing project where everyday items are animated and collaged into perpetual mobiles. These objects—the mundane companions of our daily lives—usually maintain a quiet, functional existence. Through isolation and digital collage, Matthias Gubler grants them a new identity.

The calm, almost hypnotic recurrence of these sequences offers the viewer a rare commodity: time. It creates an opportunity to gain a new intimacy with the familiar and to rediscover the inherent value in what we usually overlook.

Beyond the aesthetic, the series questions our relationship with our material environment. In an age of disposability, Gubler asks if a rethink of our ecological responsibility is long overdue, suggesting that we have perhaps lost our sensitivity toward the world of things.
